"3 Bands, 3 Songs, 3 Bucks -- every month!"

Volume 14 of the series finds us releasing a song by a long time favorite of mine, one of Lansing Michigan's most enduring and endearing bands, Calliope. One of the very first house shows I went to as a fresh-faced college student was Calliope and Apollo 9 at the Atlantis Co-op. It was great, and I've been a fan ever since. It's an honor to present this summer's space rock anthem, "Honeysummer."

Another facet of the early 1990s burgeoning space-rock scene in mid-Michigan was the band Auburn Lull, which has three great albums and a slew of singles under their belts. It's also a privilege to unleash the debut recording from guitarist Jason Kolb's new ambient electronic project Curent, the pulsing and percolating "Mosel."

Finishing things off is a brand new track from my own musical project, Stargrazer, a "Plan D" of sorts. When planning a monthly series with three different bands every month, certain logistical tangles and fumbles can occur. If the worst case scenario is that I have to write and record a new song, hey, things'll be alright! I'll try not to do that all the time. "Filestarter" represents the first original Stargrazer song of the series (the Stargrazer track released in May 2011 was a cover of a song by Low), as well as a taste of what the E.P. I'm home-recording this summer might sound like. Incidentally, I'm also working with Calliope's first bassist, Eric Merckling (of CrookedSound), on a full-length album, too. So this edition of the Singles Club feels like a family affair, and I hope you enjoy it with plenty of sunshine, good friends, and cold beverages all summer long, and for many more summers to come.
